WisBlock New Year 2022 launch

Hello RAKstars,

With the start of the new year, we have exciting WisBlock news for you. This time we are not only launching new modules, but new RAK Developer Kits as well, which combine a WisBlock Kit with a RAK Developer Gateway, everything you need to start exploring the LoRaWAN® world.

And not to forget the first of its kind—the WisBlock Solutions. WisBlock Solutions are ready-to-use, assembled devices with an AT Command interface, like our WisNode products. But WisBlock Solutions are all Open Source—we provide you with the complete source code, so you can change the functionality to your needs.

WisBlock Solution: GNSS Location Tracker for LoRaWAN RAK10700

As the first WisBlock Solution, we present you our GNSS Location Tracker for LoRaWAN, built with WisBlock modules featuring our RAK12500 GNSS module and the RAK1906 Environment sensor. The AT Command interface allows you to setup the device to connect to a LoRaWAN server without the need to do any programming. RAK Developer Kits

Curious to start with LoRaWAN, but not sure what you need to buy? Our new RAK Developer Kits are the perfect starting point for you.

These kits include everything you need to start exploring the world of LoRaWAN. Each kit includes a gateway and a set of WisBlock modules. You can choose between 4 options:

Kit 1 (Entry Kit) is a Gateway and a WisBlock Starter Kit. Add any of our WisBlock Sensor or IO modules to build a system based on your ideas. Many ideas for WisBlock solutions can be found in our WisBlock Github Repo https://github.com/RAKWireless/WisBlock/tree/master/examples

Kit 2 (Weather Kit) includes everything to build a weather station that measures temperature, humidity, barometric pressure and environment luminosity, and to send the collected weather information over LoRaWAN to the cloud/LoRaWAN server. It includes as well an indoor enclosure to protect the WisBlock modules.

Kit 3 (Tracker Kit) is the perfect solution if you want to build an asset tracker and send location information over LoRaWAN to the cloud/LoRaWAN server. It includes an IP65 outdoor enclosure with a solar panel to recharge the battery of the tracker. Important information: The kit does not include a battery, the battery has to be bought separate.

Kit 4 (Air Quality Kit) includes everything to build an indoor air quality monitor and send the air quality information over LoRaWAN to the cloud/LoRaWAN server. It includes as well an indoor enclosure to protect the WisBlock modules.

WisBlock RAK12013 Radar module is a motion detection sensor based on Radar technology. This motion detection sensor can detect humans and pets in the sensing range of 5-7m. It can be used as a security system to detect intruders or for light automation.

Use it to build a motion sensor for a security system, for lighting automation, and for your Smart Home and Smart Office projects.

This sensor can measure distances between the sensor and an obstacle/object based on Time of Flight of a laser impulse of up to 1.5m away.

Use this sensor to build a low-power distance measurement system and use it to control robot cars or detect the distance to assembly parts in a production line.

Use the Flex Sensor to build a human machine interface by applying the sensor to your finger. Or build a safety system in the production line to detect bending of machinery under stress

This sensor can measure the bending of objects using a flexible sensor that changes resistance when bent. Using an ADC converter chip, the bending can be read directly over I2C without the need to use an analog input.

This is a kit with one Sensor Interface Module that can be connected to up to three soil moisture and temperature sensors. The sensor is based on capacitive measurement and its coated sensor element makes it more reliable and longer lasting than sensors based on resistive measurement methods.

The calibration values are stored on the sensor element itself, so once a sensor is calibrated, it can be attached to any WisBlock Core module without the need to start a new calibration.

In addition, the measured data Is transferred over I2C but, making the system more robust compared to sensors that transmit an analog signal.

Combine this 250V/10A relay with the RAK12019 UV light sensor to control the window shades of your house to keep out the UV light. Or use it together with the RAK12023 Soil Moisture Sensor to start the irrigation system of your garden automatically if the soil is getting too dry.

The RAK14004 keypad interface extends your WisBlock solution with a variety of keypads for manual data input or control of your solution.
Select one of our keypads with 3x3, 3x4 or 4x4 key matrices that are connected to the keypad interface with a flex cable.

The rotary input provides an option to setup a device with a rotating knob (like on old radios).
